About Me
Hello and howdy! I’m Ryan Authier and I’m excited for the chance to work with you. I have over 10 years of experience in the mental health field in Austin, working with an immensely diverse range of clients in an equally diverse range of environments—from public elementary schools to barns, trails and pastures.
I specialize in treating trauma, attachment wounds, shame, insecurity and other issues through a variety of traditional and experiential modalities. I pull from a toolbox including somatic experiencing, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness practices, EMDR, The NeuroAffective Relational Model and others in order to meet the needs of you, my client, no matter what those needs may be.
I began my career as a campus-based therapist and case manager working in AISD elementary schools providing trauma therapy to children deemed at-risk. From there, I switched from the school setting to working on a ranch providing trauma-focused equine therapy to children and families. Prior to opening my own private practice, I was the clinical director of a group therapy practice in Austin focused on equity and inclusive mental health care. Now, since becoming a father and pivoting my career once more, I operate my private practice from a small office in my backyard.
Outside of my therapy work, I am an avid dog lover, professional woodworker, outdoorsman, amateur cook and occasional D&D dungeon master. I have a toddler (chaotic-good alignment) who has taught me how to blow tummy raspberries and the meaning of unconditional love.
