Couples Therapy

When I work with couples, I use a lot of the same theories that I use with individuals. A lot of the issues that impact our romantic relationships stem from our early life traumas and attachment injuries, so our work in therapy is to better understand the impact of these in ourselves and our partners so that we can find the capacity to nurture and care for them in the context of the relationship.

I view couples therapy as a opportunity to hone some of the central skills of being in relationship like active listening and clearer communication, but more so, it is a chance for partners to deepen their understanding of one another in order to better find the capacity for love and deeper connection.

Couples therapy is not just for couples who feel their relationship is in trouble. Many couples seek therapy because they want to deepen an already secure connection they have with one another. No matter where you are in your relationship, therapy can be incredibly beneficial.

Understanding someone’s suffering is the best gift you can give another person. Understanding is love’s other name. If you don’t understand, you can’t love.
